퇴사하며 보내는 이메일 - Thank you and Farewell

근 6년을 다닌 회사에서의 마지막 날이 내일이다. 생각해보니 직장인이 되고 가장 오래 다닌 회사다. 6년이면 half decade. 아마 적당한 경험이 쌓이고, 중간 매니져 직급이 되었고, 체력도 되고... 의지도 있고, 호기심도 있고... 직장생활 피크 타임을 여기서 보낸거 아닌가 싶은 생각도 든다. 

인수인계가 순조롭게 이번 주 초에 끝이 나서  생각보다 많은 시간적인 여유가 있었다. 아무래도 마지막 인사말을 내일 적기에는 시간이 없을 것 같기도 하고, 무슨 말을 해야할지 생각이 나지 않을 것 같아서, 오늘 낮에 미리 작성을 해봤다. 내가 쓴 무미건조한 초안에다가 - 평소 글쓰기에 소질이 있다는 배우자의 도움을 많이많이 받아서 인간미를 불어넣어 완성했다. 

낮에 마지막 인사말을 작성할때만 해도 덤덤했는데, 마지막 timesheet을 기록하고, 몇 개 남아있던 이메일들도 정리를 하고, 노트북에 남아있던 개인적인 파일들을 모두 삭제하고... 그리고 내일 아침 보낼 이 인사말을 다시 읽어보니... 뭔가 쨍하다. 시원섭섭.

Dear all,

As many of you probably know by now, today is sadly my last day at XYZ. It has been an exciting journey over the last 6 years.

The beginning of my journey with the ABC ANZ team, way back in 2014 was when I first met Mel at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth (we were both CRAs) and I’ll always remember her lending me $10 to buy lunch (cash only canteen). A few months later, we met again in front of old PMCC building, I recall Thao being there as well. We all shared a cab to the airport and I joined here a couple of months later. 

The last half decade has been fantastic for me personally and professionally, and I have very fond and warm memories of you all.

I was fortunate enough to get involved with the aaaaa trials, especially the early melanoma trials. And at one point – I personally met one of the patients who got benefit from ABC XYZ trial. It was very touching and an eye opening experience for me to hear directly from the patients how the drug had changed their lives.

As Zoe always remind us, ANZ ABC has been expanding each year. We are now many times the size when I first joined. A testament to our success. Along with this growth, many fun and inspiring people have joined ABC. I have treasured my time with many of you and will take away lots of happy memories. Who knows – I may be back again one day!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience, your kindness and most importantly, your friendship.
And more importantly, I would like to wish everyone all the best for the future, wherever that leads you, and whatever you work on.

Now it is time for me to go, but I take you with me, in my heart.
